Update Archives For November 200526 November 2005Shop Reopens Friday 9th DecemberWe're delighted to announce that our shop will reopen on Friday 9th December following repairs and redecoration after the fire outside and above our premises in October. We can promise you the same excellent selection of new and back issues in a newly-refurbished and brighter environment! Please note that our back issue mail order service will commence soon after that date as we sort and reorganise the stock (everything having been moved for the redecoration). Also, not all stock will be available immediately following the reopening. The basement area of the shop is being reorganised and may have to remain closed initially for a short period. We strongly recommend if you're planning a visit to the shop for back issues before Christmas, that you phone us first to ensure that the sections you wish to browse are available. You can contact us during our normal business hours now or after 9th December on 020 8788 2052 or anytime by email to sales@30thcenturycomics.co.uk. We look forward to seeing you from 9th December onwards! Rob, Will, Sandy & Peter Posted by Rob | 12:22 a.m. GMT | 26 November 2005 23 November 2005Reopening News & Alan Class signingWork is proceeding according to schedule on the repairs and redecoration to our shop following the fire outside and above last month. Within a few days, we hope to be able to confirm a reopening date, which should be within the next 2 weeks. As you may imagine, all our back issue stock has had to be moved to facilitate the redecoration and is currently inaccessible (except for the Alan Class Collection), so if you've either placed or are thinking of placing an order for back issues, it may be in the region of 2 weeks before we can fill your order or advise you of availability. Please bear with us during this time. We hope to be fully back to normal by Christmas! And just a reminder that our exclusive Alan Class signing is going ahead this coming Sunday (27th), at our temporary home at 22 Lower Richmond Road (Vacation Club Travel Agents); Alan will be signing from 2-5pm. All remaining issues from the Collection will be available for sale and signing on the day, as well as collectors' item Plate Sets of the printing plates used in the production of an issue, the issue itself, a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Alan Class and in some cases printers' proof photostats as well. We hope to see you there! Posted by Rob | 09:36 a.m. GMT | 23 November 2005 The Alan Class Private Collection - Uncanny Tales (& Suspense)In preparation for our exclusive Alan Class signing this coming Sunday (27th), and following our previous announcements regrading the Alan Class Private Collection, we are now pleased to announce the sixth and final selection from this publisher's file copies are now on sale exclusively from 30th Century Comics. Each item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed individually by Alan Class himself, and constitutes a very rare opportunity to own a piece of comics history. This selection comprises a lengthy run of Uncanny Tales from #1 upwards as well as a couple of issues of late Suspense (a title unfortunately poorly represented in the file copies). Whilst most of our back issue stock is currently non-accessible due to the redecoration of our shop premises, the Alan Class Collection has been relocated to our temporary base at 22 Lower Richmond Road ready for the signing. We have been advised that our building is now safe to trade from again, and work starts this week on repairs to our shop front and interior decor following the fire outside and above three weeks ago. We now expect to be open again in December, and as soon as we have a firm date, details will be posted here. We're delighted to be able to trade again from the same address rather than having to relocate, and normal service including regular website updates for incoming stock should be resumed shortly. Once again, our Friday/Saturday standing order collection service will remain operative until we reopen, and back issues/new comics are still available mail order at the present time. And don't forget our exclusive Alan Class signing at 22 Lower Richmond Road (2 doors along from our shop) on Sunday 27th November! Rob, Will, Sandy & Peter at 30th Century Posted by Rob | 10:56 p.m. GMT | 15 November 2005 10 November 2005Posted by Rob | 09:00 p.m. GMT | 10 November 2005 Alan Class signing - 27th November - the show must go on!We are delighted to announce that our exclusive signing by Alan Class will proceed in spite of our temporary shop closure. The signing will be held on the same date (27th November) at the same time 2pm-5pm, and will now take place just two doors along from our shop at 22 Lower Richmond Road (Vacation Club Travel Agents) where our very kind neighbours have allowed us to use their premises for the event. The facilities there are actually superior inasmuch as there is more space and more seating, so the atmosphere will be more relaxed and convivial. Alan Class will be making a personal appearance on Sunday 27th November 2005 from 2-5pm, to sign copies from his file collection, and to talk about his lengthy career in comics publishing. Mr. Class will be signing copies available for purchase on the day, but if you have previously bought from his collection and want those copies signed, bring them along and he'll be happy to do so. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, only certificated copies from his private collection can be signed. If you can't make it on the day, but would like to get something signed, that's no problem. Just get in touch with us no later than Saturday 26th November. 30th Century Comics -- emulating the spirit of the blitz! Posted by Rob | 08:59 p.m. GMT | 10 November 2005 Situation updateWithin the next week, we hope to have some positive news about opening again in Putney. We are currently awaiting advice from insurers before we can go ahead with our reopening plans - watch this space! In the meantime, our standing order collection service on Fridays and Saturdays is working fine. If you have a standing order and haven't yet contacted or heard from us, please get in touch -- we'll make sure you don't miss an issue during this closure period. You can now contact us by phone on our old number 020 8788 2052. We can't guarantee we'll always be able to answer, since we're running around a lot at the moment, but you should be able to reach us most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Email is still the best way to contact us for the time being. We're also offering our regular mail order service. If you get your new comics by post, this will continue uninterrupted. If you normally call at the shop for your new comics, but can't make Fridays 12-3 or Saturdays 12-5 at our nearby location (email or phone for details) we can post your order to you. Mail order is also available for items from our website or general stock. 30th Century Comics -- shaken but stirred -- into action!
